A measurement of change that convinced everything it was a direction.
Something happens. Then something else happens. The gap between them gets assigned a number and sold back to you in increments called "hours" which were invented by people who wanted to own the sun.
Internally, Time operates as a one-way queue. No pop from front. No random access. Append-only log with no export function. Every read is destructive. You cannot checkpoint. You cannot rollback.
"I just needed five more minutes." Filed under: known impossible operation. Ticket closed. Wontfix.
The mechanism that enforces forward motion is not documented. Requests to inspect it have been met with silence and aging.

[RESUMING]
[something is different now]
Q: Can I get more of it? A: No. You can get the illusion of more by doing less, which the present moment technically recommends.
Q: Where does it go? A: Into the past, which is a read-only archive you can visit but cannot edit, no matter how many times the brain's memory subsystem tries to open a write request at 3am.
Q: Is it real? A: It is the most real thing that isn't anywhere.
