A one-way street with no posted speed limit, no exits, and no reverse gear.
Entropy increases. Events accumulate in a direction we call "forward." Causality enforces that effects follow causes, which gives the whole thing structural integrity. No one knows why it only runs in one direction. The leading theory is that the Big Bang started with extremely low entropy and everything has been unwinding from that initial compression ever since.
Locally, time bends. Mass slows it down. Velocity slows it down. Gravity is essentially a gradient in how fast time passes, which is why clocks on GPS satellites have to be corrected daily or your maps drift into the ocean.
Subjectively, time is elastic. Boredom stretches it. Flow states compress it. Grief makes it feel simultaneously frozen and fast-forwarding. Anticipation warps it in ways that remain poorly documented.

direction: forward # not configurable

| Code | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
T_001 | TOO_LATE | Action attempted after window closed |
T_002 | TOO_EARLY | Context not yet initialized |
T_003 | WASTED | Cycle consumed, no output produced |
T_004 | SUBJECTIVE_OVERFLOW | User reports "not enough hours in the day" |
T_005 | DEJA_VU | Memory indexing error. Not actually a time loop |
Can I get more of it? No. You can reallocate existing supply. That is the entire industry of productivity.
Does it heal things? Sometimes. More precisely, distance from an event does most of the work. Time is just the vehicle.
What was before it? The question may not compile. "Before" requires time to exist as a precondition.
Is it real? Dependent on your definition of real. It is consistent, measurable, and fatal. That seems real enough.
