What it actually is

The deliberate construction of a false reality, made load-bearing by someone else's belief in it.

How it works

Identify a gap between what someone believes and what is.
Do not close that gap. Furnish it. Hang curtains.
Accept value in exchange for the furnished gap.
Become unreachable, or become a keynote speaker. Both are valid exits.

The core engine is trust, running in a mode its designers never patched because patching it would break everything else. Fraud is not a bug introduced into the system. It is the system discovering its own reflection and deciding to monetize it.

Edge Cases

The Sincere Fraud: Operator genuinely believes the false thing. Legally ambiguous. Spiritually catastrophic.
Institutional Fraud: When the org becomes the exploit. See: any century, any exchange.
Self-Fraud: The spec forks, turns inward, and runs entirely on memory and selective evidence. Most common deployment. Least prosecuted.
