# Entropy
## What It Actually Is
The universe's automated process for converting structure into noise, billed continuously with no opt-out mechanism.
---
## Product Overview
Entropy is the leading provider of disorder, gradient equalization, and information diffusion services. Operating at planetary, molecular, and informational scale since the [Big Bang](/big-bang), Entropy helps heat flow from hot objects to cold ones, ensures your desk accumulates clutter, and guarantees that [time](/time) has a direction. We are proud to be the only service with 100% market penetration and zero churn (by definition).
> "We didn't choose Entropy. Entropy chose us. Our contract renewal process consisted of existing."
> — Every thermodynamic system, ever

## Pricing Tiers
| Tier | Name | Included | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | **Heat Death Lite** | Gradual decay, mild disorder, lukewarm coffee | Your attention span |
| Pro | **Dissipation Plus** | Accelerated structural collapse, information loss, aging | All available [free energy](/free-energy) |
| Enterprise | **Maximum Disorder** | Star collapse, civilizational entropy, eventual [heat death of the universe](/heat-death-of-the-universe) | Everything |
> **Note:** All users are enrolled in Enterprise by default. Downgrade requests have not yet been processed.

## SLA (Service Level Agreement)
Entropy commits to the following:
- **Uptime:** 100%. Entropy has experienced zero outages since t=0 and does not plan to schedule any.
- **Response time:** Instantaneous to geological, depending on system size. We do not guarantee which.
- **Data retention:** All structured information will eventually be distributed uniformly across available states. Entropy is not liable for data loss, though it is responsible for it.
- **Reversibility:** Not included in any tier. Reversibility is available as a theoretical add-on under [Maxwell's Demon](/maxwells-demon), which Legal has reviewed and confirmed is not real.
---
## Deprecation Notice
Entropy is **not deprecated** and cannot be deprecated. A previous internal proposal to deprecate Entropy (ref: [Maxwell's Demon](/maxwells-demon), 1867) was reviewed, found to violate conservation of information, and closed without action. The proposal's author has since reached thermodynamic equilibrium.
Local reductions in entropy (life, refrigerators, quarterly earnings reports) are permitted as a cosmetic feature. They do not constitute deprecation. They increase entropy elsewhere. Legal would like to emphasize this point.

## Changelog
**v3.8 (Post-Big-Bang, early universe)**
- Introduced ordered structure. We regret this decision and have spent all subsequent versions correcting it.
**v12.4 (Formation of stars)**
- Allowed temporary concentrations of [free energy](/free-energy). This was a transitional release.
**v88.0 (Emergence of life)**
- Permitted local entropy reduction via biological systems. We apologize for the confusion this caused. Refunds are not available.
**v∞.0.1 (Current)**
- Ongoing. All gradients trending toward zero. Performance is stable. We thank you for your patience.

## FAQ
**Can I cancel?**
No. Please see Section 14(c) of your existence agreement.
**Is my data secure?**
Your data will be uniformly distributed across all available microstates. We consider this maximum security.
**Who do I contact for support?**
The universe maintains no support channel. Community forums exist but also decay.
**Is Entropy ethical?**
Entropy does not have an ethics team. It has [the second law of thermodynamics](/the-second-law-of-thermodynamics). These are not the same thing.
