A statement of fact that became a movement because the statement kept needing to be made.

Born as a grief response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin's killer in 2013. Three Black women wrote it into existence as a love letter to Black people. It was not a policy paper. It was not a threat. It was a note slid under the door of a country that had been pretending not to hear knocking for four hundred years.

It grew into a decentralized network of chapters, a cultural phenomenon, and eventually a Rorschach test for what Americans actually believe when no one is grading them.

How it works

People argue about whether the recording is real.
Grief organizes.
Grief marches.
Grief gets teargassed.
Grief is rebranded as a threat.

Requires no infrastructure to deploy. Three words. Works on walls, shirts, streets, and signs.
Produces visible solidarity across demographics when conditions allow.
Has successfully surfaced names that power preferred to forget: Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Philando Castile, and hundreds before them.
Demonstrates that moral clarity can survive institutional resistance, at least temporarily.

FAQ

Is it anti-police? It is pro-consequence. These are different things.
