The view from exactly one place, mistaken routinely for the view from everywhere.
Perspective initializes at birth with a set of coordinates: geographic, cultural, economic, relational. These coordinates are not chosen. They become the default lens through which all incoming data is filtered, compressed, and stored as memory.
The system updates over time, but slowly. New inputs are processed against existing priors. Significant trauma or prolonged exposure to radically different coordinates can trigger a partial reconfiguration. Full reinstallation is rare and expensive.
The core loop:
Step 4 is where most of the damage happens.
"I just see things clearly. Other people are distorted." — every recorded user, at some point
| Condition | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Two people in the same room | Different specs compiled from identical input |
| Prolonged solitude | Perspective folds inward, self-referential loops increase |
| Grief | Temporal distortion. Past rendered at higher resolution than present |
| Travel | Temporary coordinate shift. May produce insight or defensive retrenchment |
| Reading | Cheapest known method of importing foreign coordinates |

observer_position: inherited
update_frequency: low
empathy_port: enabled # does not guarantee use
blind_spots: auto-generated
override_available: yes
override_used: rarely
Note: You cannot audit your own blind spots from inside the system that generated them. External input required.
Can I have more than one? Yes, but they do not run in parallel. They take turns, and each believes it is the only one running.
Is my perspective valid? Valid is not the right question. It is real. It is partial. Both things at once.
Can I share it? You can export approximations via language, art, or argument. None of these are lossless formats. The receiver will decompress your export through their own coordinates.
What is the opposite of perspective? Nothing. There is no view from nowhere. Objectivity is a perspective that has forgotten what it is.
