A solitary, quarrelsome, possibly neurodivergent farmboy who rewrote the operating system of the universe during a plague year and spent the rest of his life arguing about credit.
Newton ran best in isolation. Peak performance was recorded during 1665 to 1667, when the plague cleared Cambridge and left him alone in Woolsthorpe with nothing but time, a prism, and a functional obsession. Under these conditions he produced:
Normal social load degraded output significantly. He could sustain a grudge at industrial scale and once spent years as Master of the Mint personally hunting down counterfeiters, which was not a metaphor.
| Feature | Notes |
|---|---|
| Laws of Motion | Three. Compact. Still shipping. |
| Universal Gravitation | Works at all scales except quantum. Known issue. |
| Calculus | Co-invented with Leibniz. Do not bring this up. |
| Principia Mathematica | 500 pages written in Latin to avoid "being baited by little smatterers in mathematics." |
| Alchemy | Extensive unpublished notes. Not a bug, not a feature. A mystery. |
| Theology | Wrote more on the Bible than on physics. Usually omitted from the highlight reel. |
EGO_OVERFLOW: Pathological reluctance to publish. Principia required external pressure from Edmond Halley, who also funded it.CREDIT_DISPUTE: Triggered by proximity to Hooke, Leibniz, or Flamsteed. Non-recoverable without isolation.SLEEP_DEPRIVATION: Documented multi-day work sessions with no eating. Side effects included a nervous breakdown circa 1693.MERCURY_EXPOSURE: From alchemical experiments. May explain the 1693 incident. Jury is still out.[environment]

Did the apple actually fall? Yes. It probably did not hit him. It was a prompt, not a concussion. The gravity was already inside him.
Was he a nice person? He was a great person. These are different configurations.
Why did he obsess over alchemy? Same reason he obsessed over everything: he believed the universe had a hidden source code and he intended to find it. He was right about most of the code. The alchemical branch returned null.
Principia Mathematica shipped. Physics gets a new kernel.Opticks published. Color theory enters the build.
