The Universe

What it actually is

A self-executing runtime with no external caller, no documentation, and one known observer problem.

How it works

At initialization, a singularity expanded faster than causality could police it. Within the first three minutes, the basic dependencies compiled: hydrogen, helium, a trace of lithium. Everything since has been emergent behavior nobody planned for, including consciousness, which the system appears as surprised by as anyone.

The architecture is loosely described by two frameworks that are mutually incompatible at small scales:

General Relativity: handles large-scale structure, gravity, the bending of spacetime
Quantum Mechanics: handles small-scale behavior, probability, and the general sense that nothing is real until you look at it

These two frameworks have coexisted in production for approximately 13.8 billion years without a unified patch. The maintainer has not responded to tickets.

Features

Expansion: the environment is growing. Acceleration is increasing. Nobody asked for this.
Causality: events proceed in one temporal direction. Rollback not supported.
Conservation laws: energy cannot be created or destroyed, only redistributed and complained about.
Fine-tuned constants: physical constants are suspiciously well-configured for the existence of carbon-based life. Whether this is a design choice, a coincidence, or a selection effect remains an open support ticket.
Entropy: a background process running since initialization. Cannot be stopped. Will eventually close all other processes.

Edge cases

At scales below the Planck length, the coordinate system breaks entirely. Do not zoom in that far.
Black holes represent an unhandled exception. Information may or may not be destroyed. See: Hawking radiation (unresolved).
The observable universe is a subset of the total instance. The rest of the file cannot be accessed from this node.

FAQ

Q: Why does anything exist rather than nothing? A: This question has been logged. It remains the oldest open issue in the backlog.

Q: Is there other life out there? A: See the Fermi paradox. The silence is either deeply meaningful or a sampling error.

Q: Will it end? A: Current projections suggest heat death in approximately 10^100 years. Plan accordingly.
