A human being who temporarily solved improvisation and left the proof running inside every alto saxophone that came after him.
Parker's core loop operated at a speed most musicians could not parse in real time. He heard chord changes as color fields rather than fences. Where other players heard a wall, Parker heard a door, walked through it, and was already in the next room before anyone noticed he had moved.

Is bebop something Parker invented? Co-invented, late nights at Minton's Playhouse, alongside others. But he was the one who made it feel inevitable rather than constructed.
