Enlightenment

What it actually is

The permanent removal of the ego from its position as primary process, after which the system runs the same tasks with dramatically less overhead.

How it works

The standard install path is undocumented and varies per user. Most reported methods involve:

Sitting very still for years until something gives up
Losing everything and noticing what remains
A single moment of grief so complete it becomes transparent
A teacher, a koan, a desert, a diagnosis, or a bus

The mechanism is not addition. Nothing new is installed. The process is closer to uninstalling the illusion of a separate self, which turns out to have been using enormous background resources the entire time.

Does not prevent pain. Prevents the second layer of pain about the pain.

Known bugs

Frequently confused with dissociation, numbness, or spiritual bypassing
Vendors sell counterfeit versions at high margin
Authenticated users often become very quiet, which others find unsettling
The person most certain they have it: almost certainly does not have it
No rollback path documented

WARN: Do not attempt to achieve enlightenment in order to feel superior.
      This will install the opposite of enlightenment.

Error codes

Code	Message	Resolution
E001	`SELF_NOT_FOUND`	Expected. Proceed.
E002	`PREMATURE_DECLARATION`	Uninstall pride, retry.
E003	`BYPASS_DETECTED`	You skipped grief. Go back.
E404	`TEACHER_NOT_FOUND`	The next thing that happens is the teacher.
E999	`NOTHING_TO_FIX`	This is the success state.

Edge cases

Some users receive partial installs: lucid for months, then the ego patches itself back
Psychedelics can simulate the output without installing the underlying change
Trauma can accidentally trigger it. This does not make trauma good. These are separate issues.
Children under five are running an earlier version natively. It gets overwritten.

FAQ

Does it feel like anything? Users describe it as ordinary. Suspiciously, profoundly ordinary.

Can you lose it? Authenticated installs: no. Trial versions: constantly.

Is it the same as happiness? Different dependency tree entirely. Often coexists. Not required to coexist.

Do I need to become a monk? The monk is optional. The silence inside the monk is the part that matters.
